Diary of a sunny Scilly weekend

With a high pressure system setting the weather fair it was time to make the most of the sunshine and enjoy our surroundings. Friday morning and a walk with the family to explore Halangy village, one of many archaeological sights.

A late afternoon boat trip took us to Tresco for a stroll along almost deserted beaches before a meal in the courtyard of the New Inn.

On to Tean with a short walk up to the top of the hill to watch the sun setting out beyond the lighthouse of Round Island.

A night on the boat at Tean and we woke up to a glass calm sea with reflections of Hedge Rock. No rest it was back to Scilly to watch the start of the now annual Ottilo swim run event around the islands. A gruelling event over 45kms of trail running and swimming with the swim making up about 10km of the course.

After lunch a boat trip to St Agnes for a walk and a Troy Town Farm ice cream direct from the farm shop.

Sunday and it was time to head over to St Martins. A long walk and picnic lunch followed by a swim before heading home.
